Boot camp style workout. On the River. Amazing way to watch the sun come up and start the day with sweat pouring over your rejuvenated soul. Some ramps, lots of steps, a little concrete, a little grass, all the fixens for beautifully scripted beatdown!
Best Parking is on Cherry Street. **Please be considerate when you park on the side streets, keep the Mumblechatter at a minimum out of respect for the residents.**

This beatdown began at the top of the wall near the Gold Star Families Memorial overlooking the river. This seemed appropriate as July 28 was the day WWI began with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria.
In honor of the archduke, I formatted the playlist from inspiration taken from the band Franz Ferdinand. Their most decorated hit, “Take Me Out” was released in 2004, therefor I chose 12 alt-rock songs released that same year.
Here’s the playlist:
Away from the Sun- Three Doors Down
Stolen-Dashboard Confessional
Sing-My Chemical Romance
Meant to live-Switchfoot
Jenny Was a Friend – The Killers
Take Me Out-Franz Ferdinand
Ocean Breathes Salty- Modest Mouse
First Straw-311
Far Away-Nickelback
I Hate Everything About You- Three Days Grace
Vertigo-U2
Hang Me Up to Dry-Cold War Kids
Float On-Modest Mouse
Pax were divided into two teams, and each had a deck of cards. One pax from each team would approach the deck and reveal a card. Hi card wins. Aces high Deuces low (14-2). Winning team chose the exercise the losing team would perform from a list written on white board.
YHC held the third deck of cards which determined the number of reps losing team performed. All but the hardest three exercises were multiplied by three. Absolutions, burpees and Lt. Dans were a multiple of two.
The winning team was rewarded with a simple lap down the stairs, down the ramp and returned via the stairs. Whichever team finished first would hold plank until the other team had all 8 pax back to the circle.
It was a beautiful morning along the river…still the most beautiful of the Blackswamp’s AO’s…IMHO.
A joy to lead such a fine group of HIM!
AYE!
