  1. Backblast: April 17th, 2024

AO: Grantland – Rotary Park – Perrysburg, OH

    PAX:
    Photon – Q
    Crawdad
    Guardian
    Irish Hoss
    Tarnished

    Workout: Thanks Be To Guard-ian

    FNG’s: N/A

    Mission and Principles:
    F3: Fitness, Fellowship, Faith
Mission: To plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
The core principles of F3 are that it is always:
    1. Free of charge
    2. Open to all men
    3. Held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
    4. Led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification necessary. You versus you. Modify or stop an exercise if you need to. The most important thing is that nobody gets hurt.
    5. Ends with a Circle of Trust
Credo: Leave no man behind but leave no man where you find him

    Background:
This was a Guardian inspired BD. During a BD at the Fortress a few days prior, all PAX lined/partnered up based on weight and it was mentioned that YHC weighed in at 153lbs, at which point it was perceived that Guardian made a comment about “needing to eat some cheeseburgers”. There was no one lined up to Q that week’s Grantland beatdown, so it was decided that we would all eat some cheeseburgers in honor of only weighing 153lbs. The Quarter Pounder ended up being the burger of choice.

    Warm-up:

    SSH – 40 (2 is 1) IC
    Windmills – 10 IC
    Arm Circles – OYO

    The “Thang”:

A play on the ‘Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese’. Idea was to perform the entire routine within two sets of cones set 25yrds apart in order to keep everyone together as opposed to a 100yrd field.

MOT out given distance. Perform reps of exercise equal to the amount of yards traveled out. MOT back the given distance. Increase distance/reps and repeat with different MOT and exercise.

25yrd Lunge walk with cindy: 25 Hand Release Burpees
50yrd Murder bunny: 50 Jungle Boys
    75yrd Farmer/suitcase carry: 75 Gas Pumpers
100yrd Rifle carry: 100 SSH (switched from plank jack shoulder taps due to difficulty)

Upon completion, laddered back down the same way we came. Substituted gas pumpers for dips on the way down. Only performed the MOT one way on the way down.

    Ended with:
    Count-O-Rama: 5
    Name-O-Rama

    The Six – Crawdad

    LDP3
    Ball of Man

Spreadsheets from the Gloom: 61 with a light mist. What was meant to increase fellowship and camaraderie ended up causing massive amounts of confusion for this beatdown. The Quarter Pounder workout typically calls for it be completed on a football field with stops at the 25, 50, 75, and 100 yard lines. Because we performed the whole thing between two sets of cones 25yrds apart, there was a lot of confusion as to how many times to go back and forth using a given MOT. There was also a lot of confusion surrounding whether or not to perform the same MOT before AND after a certain exercise. This confusion would have been completely eliminated had a football field been used. Will probably use the full 100yrds in the future. Other than that the MOT and exercise choices seemed doable. Farmer/suitcase carry was a little easy with a single block. Would probably switch to a different MOT next time or require two blocks. Perhaps a bear crawl cindy roll would work for the 25yrds and just move the lunge walk and murder bunny up 25yrds a piece. Burpees and jungle boys were good. Gas pumpers were good on the way up, but might be tough repeating on the way back down. If the routine went back to the start instead of laddering in reverse, I think all exercises could be repeated. That said I’d probably swap the gas pumpers for American Hammers in the future.

There was a playlist. All titles coincided with the theme of eating, because why not?

Thanks for all who posted, and I apologize for the train-wreck. At least we got some work in.
