The Weird Workout
A beatdown developed in the vein of “Bring Sally Up” or “Thunderstruck”, using 35 minutes of Weird Al Yankovic songs. Anyone who has done the Sally knows, these things get really hard by about 1/2 way through the song, and depending on what you’re doing can be ultra punishing.
we had 11 songs–9 of them followed the format of a primary exercise to be done continuously with a secondary exercise triggered on a particular lyric.
1–Amish Paradise. SSH with Burpee on ‘paradise’
2–Eat It. Puddin’ Scoops with Merkin on ‘eat’
3–Like a Surgeon. Crab Cakes with a Flapjack on ‘surgeon’
4–Yoda. Imperial Walker with a smurf jack on ‘yoda’
5–I’m Fat. Globe trotter (cinder block) with Curl-press on ‘fat’
6–The White Stuff. Superman with Surfer get up on ‘white’
7–White & Nerdy. Block curls with squat thruster on ‘nerdy’
8–EBAY. Different format. Alphabet ladder (1 each Elevated Bridge, Burpee, Alarm Clock, Yul Brynner, then 2, then 3 etc. for duration of song)
9–Another one rides the Bus. Block swings with Goblet squat on ‘bus’
10–Tacky. Various abs (dolly, LBC, leg raise) with BBSU on ‘tacky’
11–I love Rocky Road. Mountain Climbers with Merkin on ‘road’
The lyrics were funny, but these had us all burning out in a serious way!
