  1. Backblast: April 22nd, 2024

AO: The Foundry – Gateway Middle School – Maumee, OH

    PAX:
    Photon – Q
    Coconut
    Dingo
    Fat Amy
    Isosceles
    Landslide
    Meatloaf
    Rudy

    Workout: Fifty yards of Gray

    FNG’s: N/A

    Mission and Principles:
    F3: Fitness, Fellowship, Faith
Mission: To plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
The core principles of F3 are that it is always:
    1. Free of charge
    2. Open to all men
    3. Held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
    4. Led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification necessary. You versus you. Modify or stop an exercise if you need to. The most important thing is that nobody gets hurt.
    5. Ends with a Circle of Trust
Credo: Leave no man behind but leave no man where you find him

    Warm-up: In cadence

SSH (2 is 1) – 50. This was done in the fashion of “21”, in super secret cadence. The PAX who created our beloved IPC timer was unable to keep time. It resulted in 5 burpees for all.

SSH (2 is 1) – 21. This was done in the fashion of “21”, in super secret cadence. The PAX who created our beloved IPC timer was still unable to keep time. It resulted in 5 more burpees for all.

    Windmills – 10

    The “Thang”:

PAX lined up and then paired up by weight.

Two rows of cones were spread 50 yards apart from one another. 5 cones in each row, each containing a MOT for the PAX to follow. Each pair of PAX chose a starting cone and followed the MOT across the 50 yards of gray to the next cone, at which point they did 10 burpees EACH before traveling back across the 50 yards of gray to the starting line of cones. PAX continued this, using a different MOT each time, until all 10 MOT and 100 burpees were complete, or until time expired. MOT were the following:

    Burpee Broad Jump
    Alligator Crawl
    Bear Crawl
    Crab Walk
    Lunge Walk
    Sprint
    Partner Carry (P1)
    Partner Carry (P2)
    Wheelbarrow (P1)
    Wheelbarrow (P2)

    Ended with:
    Count-O-Rama: 8
    Name-O-Rama

    The Six – Fat Amy

    LDP3

    Ball of Man

Spreadsheets from the Gloom: 32F and dry. Perfect weather for burpees (other than the dew). I liked this one. Partner work allowed for some more intimate mumblechatter and the overall difficulty was solid. Main thing to change (thanks for the suggestion, Coconut!) would be to adjust the exercises or location of the work based on the status of the grass. The Burpee Broadjumps and the sprint were probably iffy with the dewey grass. With the numbers we had, we probably could have moved the whole thing to the track, or at least split the cones between grass and track. Alligator Merkins were pretty brutal over that distance, but they balanced out pretty well with the rest of the movements. Nobody finished, but several pairs got to the last movement and would have finished if not for Rudy’s inability to count to 50 (or 21) in his head.

Per usual, please see the hand-curated Graylist below:

    “White Room” – Cream
    “White Shadows” – Coldplay
“Grey Street” – Dave Matthews Band
“Black or White” – Michael Jackson
“Fields of Gray” – Bruce Hornsby
“Paint it Black” – The Rolling Stones
    “Supermassive Black Hole” – Muse

It was a pleasure to lead. Thanks to everyone who came out. We should bring the chains and whips next time.
