Mission and Principles:
F3: Fitness, Fellowship, Faith
Mission: To plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
The core principles of F3 are that it is always:
1. Free of charge
2. Open to all men
3. Held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
4. Led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification necessary. You versus you. Modify or stop an exercise if you need to. The most important thing is that nobody gets hurt.
5. Ends with a Circle of Trust
Credo: Leave no man behind but leave no man where you find himWarm-up: In cadence

The “Thang”:
The Juke was a playlist of exicon-inspired songs with dedicated exercise routines associated with them. YHC attempted to include as much exercise variety as possible within the playlist, but there are only so many options. The playlist was randomized like an old juke box, where the listeners did not know what was playing next. Songs would play continuously in this format unless/until any PAX decided that they wanted to skip the current song by paying to play the next one. Assumption was that a current juke box had a cost of $1 per song, so a 100 burpee buy-in (collectively) was required to skip a song. Once a song was skipped, the following song had to be played in its entirety because it was paid for by a patron. There were 3 skips allowed within the beatdown.
Songs/exercises were the following:
“Jump” – Kris Kross: Al Gore to Jump Squats
“Proud Mary” – Creedence Clearwater Revival: BBSUs to Gas Pumpers to Flutter Kicks
“Baba O’Riley” – The Who: Imperial Walkers
“(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher – Jackie Wilson: Low Leg Hold to Heels to Heaven
“Flower” – Moby: Mid-Merkin Plank to Merkins
“Bodies” – Drowning Pool: Plank to Merkins to Donkey Kicks
“Cupid Shuffle” – Cupid: Plank to Kick Throughs to Merkins
“Da’ Dip” – Freak Nasty: Reverse Plank to Dips
“American Woman” – The Guess Who: Squats to Burpees
“Thunderstruck” – AC/DC: SSH to Burpees
“Tubthumping” – Chumbawamba: SSH to BurpeesEnded with:

Spreadsheets from the Gloom: Cool 48 and dry. This one was a lot harder than expected. The beatdown is at the mercy of the randomized order of songs, and getting two in a row that hit the same muscle group is a recipe for disaster. Mr. Anderson elected for an early skip of “Bodies” that may have cost us in the long run as we got back to back core as a result. We then got another back to back, a double cardio blast that resulted in a Tubthumping skip. And Bring Sally Up was not achievable due to “Da’ Dip” performed prior. All in all it was a fun one with plenty of good mumble chatter. It might be better in future runs to order the songs intentionally to allow for some targeted muscle recovery between songs. Starting with “Flower” might also be a good idea simply to test whether or not people can actually complete it at full strength. Also, “Da’ Dip” was absolutely brutal and may not be achievable unless isolated to a single, individual event.
Thanks to the Mikes, the Jakes, and the Lee(vi)s who came out to join me for a little fun. It was a pleasure to lead.
