  • The Necropolis (Fort Meigs – Run) – Coconut

    Intro–Mission, core principles, disclaimer, credo

    Run Thang
    about 59 degrees at 0530 as the runners gathered for a tithe to IPC week 4.
    – run the trail to the wall (about 1.2 mi)
    – 5 burpees IC, run partway to the pump station
    – 10 merkins IC, run to boathouse
    – 16 lunges IC, run up the pump station hill and around to monument
    – 20 squats IC, run back to boathouse
    -14 lunges IC, run back along trail toward wall
    – 10 merkins IC–photon style, with the extra shoulder shrug at the top, run back to wall
    – 5 burpees IC.
    From there we ran up the ramp, and along to Mulberry street. turn south and run to 0606 then turn around and make way back to the parking lot for COT. We got back with just enough time for 5 more burpees IC. about 4.5 mi all told.

    COT led by Geppetto.
    Pleasure to lead today and share the joy of the end of IPC with half a dozen guys.

    Ran IPC week 3.

    Start both the 40-minute timer and the 5-minute EMOM timer at the same time.
    Complete the following exercises as prescribed.

    40 Kettlebell swings
    40 lateral block jump-overs
    40 thrusters
    40 decline merkins (feet on top of your coupon that is turned vertically)

    When EMOM timer goes off, stop the work you are doing:
    Run out 25 yards
    Do 5 burpees
    Run back 25 yards
    Pick up where you left off when you get back

    Repeat this pattern for 40 minutes

    Spreadsheets from the Gloom: This F3 Greenwood creation was absolutely horrible for one reason, and one reason only. The decline merkins. The quantity, the block orientation, and the preceding thrusters all contributed to their awfulness. I disliked them so much, I may run this beatdown again in the near future and swap them out for No Cheat Merkins.

    All complaining aside, I was very grateful to have 9 other guys join me for this, especially those who don’t typically gravitate towards IPC. Props to Guardian and Coconut for showing up just to support those of us partaking in the beatdown. The encouragement and pick-up certainly counted for a number of reps that wouldn’t have occurred otherwise. And props to Tarnished and Spaulding for crushing it.

    IPC intensity calls for a playlist that can keep up. A small alteration to the Burpee Gulley track listing was just what the doctor ordered.

    Beatdown:
    • Four cones setup in a square; 25 yards apart from each other.
    o Cone 1 = Merkins
    o Cone 2 = Lt. Dan’s
    o Cone 3 = Absolutions
    o Cone 4 = Big Boy Sit-Ups
    • PAX Start at a cone. 15 reps of the exercise at each cone, sprinting between each cone. After the 15 rep lap, PAX repeato and go down to 14 reps of each exercise. Repeato dropping one rep each round until time is called.
    • 3 minute EMOM timer set. When the timer goes off, stop where you, sprint to the middle of the box and complete 5 Burpees, sprint back to where you were and resume where you left off.
