Boot camp style workout at the Shops at Fallen Timbers. Group will meet next to the movie theater. Easy access to the Wabash Cannonball Trail for some running or rucking. Also, plenty of blacktop to make use of, not to mention a little green space across from the theater.

    Intro, Principles, Mission.

    Bourbon, Jimmy Dean, Wipers, Footlose, OPEC, Bongo, Bluto, Dropout, Patriot, Woodstock, Shawshank, Mercy (Q)

    The Q had the bright idea of incorporating Hershcel Walker’s approach to fitness, and then put on the back end a mental challenge.

    Started with a quote from Herschel Walker about how you can do anything, no matter your age. Described Walker’s approach to fitness – massive amount of reps, 5 main exercises – merkins, pullups, sprints, situps, and squats.

    Circled up in the field, with 4 cones set up near us for the sprints.

    We did merkins, situps, and squats in cadence, and ran 2 suicides at the end of the cadence round.
    For the HIIT round, we did 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off – 4 rounds for each exercise. 2 suicides at the end of the HIIT round.

    During the HIIT round, the Q turned up the Taylor Swift tunes. The PAX enjoyed.

    For the mental challenge, the Q borrowed from a GORUCK cadre-led workout. Each pax grabbed 2 (ice cold) water bottles, emptied one by drinking it or pouring it out.

    We proceeded to do exercies with water in our mouths. A gulp from the full bottle, exercise, spit water into empty bottle.
    Burpees, squats, Lt. Dans, Situps, lunges, bear crawls – a wide variety of exercises, with an attempt at a challenging number of reps, the Q finally shut up 2 of the biggest mouths in F3 – Bourbon and Bluto. With water in mouth, one had to focus on breathing through nose and staying calm. Some exercises were more difficult than others, such as burpees and bear crawls. Bear crawls were Bourbon’s ide.

    Finishers: Route 66 – bear crawls and merkins, then 2 rounds of 30 seconds jump squats, 30 seconds jump lunges. Mercy put on some Van Halen and shut down the Taylor Swift for the jumping exercises.

    it was good to see some PBurg and Sylvania PAX, and Bluto’s words to us at the end of the beatdown were heartfelt and kind. It’s always good to see Bluto.
